Hi,

Im really caught about my recent choice.

I have 6600, im upgrading for games usually every 4 or 5 years.

I bought a 10400f 130 quid and gigabyte z490 ud for 130 quid. Havent received it yet.

As AMD has stock issues its the only choice right now, im looking at benchmarks 10400 is competitive and it should be fine for next 4 years or so.

My only concern is that ps5 and xbox use AMD chips, is there any possibility that games will start to perform significantly better on AMD chip as developers make cross platform games?

Its the only reason causing hesitation.

Or will it be fine?

thanks

Last gen was AMD for console and it was horrendous from day 1. There's zero reason to be concerned. New consoles are different beasts though, actually adequate hardware. It looks to be getting better for PC even with devs still focussing on the consoles still.

ok thanks, Im sure it will be fine, im still not sure I even need to upgrade from 6600 broadly speaking it still performs well in new release

At £130 it's a great choice. Should be enough, but remember you can always by a second hand faster CPU in few years time cheap. No point spending too much for a CPU now, if your actual CPU won't bottleneck your system, at least for a while.
AMD actually is great, but a 5600 would set you back £300+, which I find excessive for a six core.
