This is a bit of email I got 3 nights ago -

Hi I needed to contact ******* regarding this weekend as we are having to close the ******* due to the fact it is losing money and we simply can't afford to keep it open. However, I couldnt contact them by phone and had to send an email.
They told me you guys were gonna do support for them so I am also sending the same message to you, which is as follows below. I have also tried to call Phil as he was my contact but have been unable to get him all day.
I would have considered keeping things going until this Saturday but it seems that only two tickets have been sold for the event, which means that things are just not worth keeping it open for.
The pubco has already decided to put the place up for sale rather than invest in it further which means that there is no point attempting to risk more losses to attempt to make money in the future.
Apologies for this, but this is simply the way things are in the trade at the moment, and I have already lost enough money in the venture.

Anyway, this meant that not only were we losing a support slot to quite a famous international tribute act but 2 other gigs at the same venue.
I decided to contact the Manageress of the band to warn her because 2 of the band live in Italy and 2 live in Ireland.
I introduced myself, told her exactly who I was and then told her the bad news.
She went ballistic pouring out millions of profanities, saying how there were Record Execs coming over from the States blah blah blah.
I told her to calm down saying I'm a fellow musician who has also been hard done by.
Two nights ago she rang me again saying she was going to sue my ass and once again I told her I have nothing to do with the venue and to look at my bands webpage, I then hung up on her.

About 20 minutes ago I have a phone call from her Solicitor !!!!! (Solicitors ringing at 11pm - I think not).
Anyway he starts to tell me that the band are proceeding to sue me for loss of earnings and other crap which will total over £2000.
I then ask him if he is in front of the internet, I tell him to type in my webpage and I say "See that old dwarf bald guy in the middle, that is me, I do the voice in that band, that band has also lost bookings form the venue, I rang Kerri to do her a favour, please tell Kerri to **** ***"
He said "Oh, I see".

Rant over and the stupid thing is we were never supporting them in the first place.

And the moral is - Never do women a favour because they always take it the wrong way

'Famous international tribute act' that can only muster 2 ticket sales to what seems to be a pub gig?

They sold the same last year because people paid on the door.
Loads had to be turned away.

Here's the other sad part during our emails -

ME -

Hi M***,
Somebody has just rang me who only 10 minutes ago was talking to someone behind the bar in the ******** and they said ******** are on this Saturday.
What’s going on?

Him -

Dave
I haven't confirmed to them behind the bar that the pub is closing and they are losing their jobs. I have to ensure that the band are not going to turn up as that would be a complete disaster

Is she American? From what you've said I can't see that there is a shred of evidence to her claim.

From the sounds of the Solicitors "oh I see" reply I would think that she has told him a load of uninformed or intentionally misleading information. The solicitor likely knows that there is no case here.

I think we can all safely assume that the 'Solicitor' was a friend who actually had more brain cells than her when I explained.

The sad thing is that according to the forums of the band who the act is a tribute to, there were a lot of people going to this gig again.
The reason why ticket sales are so low is because they aren't advertised except in the venue.

I expected Azagoth to come in this thread filling all the asterix's in.
