Well, After seeing the list of games coming in November, I've had my arm twisted so much it nearly came off.

I'm off to buy myself an Xbox 360, I'm defiantly either getting the Halo edition or the Elite, Due to me being terrified of it dying and i haven't even bought it yet.

I know if i get one of those, It's newly manufactured and also may have the extra cooling I pray for.

Now here's the thing, I only have a standard definition TV, I know it's not going to look great running through SD, but as long as it runs, I'm happy with it until I get my HDTV. (this is also the reason I'm getting the 360 over the PS3 now, Bluray would be useless to me)

I'm attempting to get the price down, by doing some massive trading in lol, I'm trading in, My old mega drive and around 40 games, My 2 x Silvers PS2s, around 30 Dreamcast games and Dreamcast Keyboard(Not letting go of the console or Shenmue) Around 40 PS1 games all good condition(Keeping FFVII and some other classics)

I don't know what to expect from that, But even just £50 off the cost of the 360 and i'll be happy.

Not really going anywhere with this thread, Just thought I'd share my story

You will love it seriously, just try not to worry about it breaking down, can't you use your PC monitor? seriously would be much better than a SDTV, while some games look ok to me on SD others just look a bit poor, but anyway enjoy your gaming

Get the Elite over the Halo edition.

Buy a VGA cable and play it on a PC monitor, it will be HD then.

If you are going to play it on an SDTV, make sure you get an RGB scart cable. Makes the world of difference.

I'm going to have to get rid of the mega drive, And games, As it takes up a surprising amount of room, In this 1 bedroom flat, Not only that, But I'm an emulator person, So can quite happily play the games through one of those, Even though it does sadden me nostalgically. As for the dreamcast, I'm not getting rid of that, Cant, And i'm keeping my favourite games, Shenmue, Skies or Arcadia, Chu Chu Rocket, and of course Powerstone.

As for playing the console through my monitor, I have 2 x 15 inch Dell monitors, But my girlfriend is a photoshop girl, And She's looking kinda cranky at the mention of taking one away. Would a 15" monitor in HD be worth it over a 40" SD? I can get hold of another monitor relatively cheap if so.

I'm going to be picking up Oblivion GOTY edition when I buy. I'm used to playing it on a dualcore PC, Can I ask if anyone noticed if loading is tedious or not? I'm a res evil fan, So i can handle it if so, It'd just be nice if it was smooth flowing

Dead Rising was fine on my old 24" CRT TV via RGB scart but that TV was some kind of miracle.

I thought that issue was pretty much unique to Dead Rising?

Enjoy your purchase, there are some great games for it and some absolute stonkers coming out next Month. Don't worry about it breaking, like you say things are getting better and can only improve further. SD TV actually doesn't look that bad if you have a decent screen anyway, again don't worry about it.

Sell your PS3 towards a HDTV. Totally worth it.

Oblivion loads extremely fast, it's faster on the 360 than on my 6600, 4GB memory, 8800GTS etc. About 2-3 seconds most of the time. There is a rare caching issue that can be solved with just a few button presses, but it only happens if you play like 10 different games every day.

You've got me looking at PC monitors now lol, My problem is I started by looking at 17" and i've slowly moved to looking at the 20's

I have to be careful, I'll end up with a 24 inch tft, if im not careful.

I have it on good YouTube authority that Hitler doesn't like the PS3 or the Wii. He's a lover of Xbox360, but he hated getting banned from Xbox Live.

I run my Xbox 360 on my PC monitor and it looks excellent (it's a widescreen monitor), it's of course just a temp setup until I get my HDTV but I prefer it over the blur of SD (my eyes hurt If I play games on it for too long). Just a thought

I'd recommend getting the Elite over the Halo edition for the bigger hard drive and the nicer colour

Why bother with either of the Elite or Halo one? The Elite I can understand if you want to use the Video download service, but the Halo one is just ugly.

The new Premium V2 (or so its been dubbed) comes with HDMI, which means there is a very strong chance it has been recently manufactured in the last 3 months and best of all it can be had for £200! if you look in the right place.
