Ive recently built my first PC based around the i5 2500k. Started off just to see if I could do it with no intention of gaming in mind. Then I started reading about graphics cards and now I'm fixated on getting a good gaming rig together! Already purchased 4 different cards.....:s

Started with the Sapphire HD 6770. Good card but not quite as good as I was hoping - SOLD!

Then purchased the Palit GTX 460. Again a good card but found myself wanting more after only a few days! SOLD!

Then purchased the HD6850. Again a good card but on par with the gtx 460 really so once again, SOLD!

Ive now got a XFX HD6950 with the dual fan on the way. Picked it up for what seemed like a good price new, £150. This is the top of my budget so hopefully this will keep me quiet for a while!

So now the PC is complete:

i5 2500k Overclocked to 4.5Ghz
Cooler Master Hyper 212 +
AsRock Z68 extreme MB
8GB G Skill Ripjaws 1600
Prowler v2 case (Cheap but seems very well built)
OCZ ModXtreme Pro PSU 600W (Enough for now)
XFX HD6950

Anyone else running a similar setup? Just ordered me a copy of Crysis to test it all out :D

To be fair nope I've done quite well. Ive managed to pick the cards up at really good prices and sold them on for a profit. like the GTX 460 was only £65.

Lesson learnt and Im gonna stick with it now though

Hmm, you could have saved yourself a fair bit of time and effort if you'd have asked for advice here before you started your epic graphicscardathon. But as long as you're enjoying yourself, I guess that's what counts ;)

Thats very true, although when I started i wasnt even planning on upgrading from the onboard graphics or overclocking. I had no idea about how a computer works, what a heatsink was lol and all things like that. But once you start learning how things work and what upgrades are avalable its hard to not get carried away! :D
