Im I pushing my memory too much

If this is true. Shall I run my mem at stock speed, Then I can have my old 1gb in there too??

if you run memory in all 4 banks, you will lose your 1T command rate, which is the main one, so its probably not worth it comaored with the gain from the extra GB. People were flashing performance increases of 20% in some apps when going from 2T to 1T.

Just try each divider with the lowest timings you can, some will perform better than others. 2-2-2-5 @ 200 might be worse than 250 2-3-3-6 for example, as the jump in bandwith is much larger than the drop in latency

Just tried it with all 3gb and as you said the performace degraded in 3dmark cos of the 2T. But I managed to keep roughly the same cpu speed, cos it was running at 206x13.5.

I will take the 1gb back out and run it at 206x13.5 using your timings, and see if I gain anymore points in 3dmark,, and I will get back to you.

Ok just tested it on 206x13.5 at 2-3-2-6 1cmd and 253x11 at 2.5-3-3-7 1cmd, and the 206x13.5 is about 1500 points lower on 3dmark01 SE

Sorry got it a tad wrong :eek: Instead of setting it to 253x11, I had it set to 256x11, so the cpu was running slightly faster. So I tested it agaiin running at 253x11 in 3dmark01 and now its about 1300 higher then running it at 206x13.5.

Using half dividers rapes your memory, avoid!

Using the .5 dividers increases the CPU speed but not the memory speed IIRC.

The ram speed is calculated like this:

CPU Speed
-----------
{CPU multi} = Ram freq
-----------
{Ram Divider}

I think mine is set to 2/2, and when I had my "2X512 3200LL Pro" mem with the leds, that was overclocked to 242x11.5 at 2.5-3-3-7 1cmd for a good 2years and never had a single prob with it. So Im hopeing my new stuff wont give me any probs either overclocked at 253, cos thats roughly the same cos its faster mem then my old suff.

Im getting some money like in 2years, so Im hopeing this will last me till then, :eek: Im gonna buy a 8800gtx next, then with a bit of luck it will last me till then. Do you think its gonna last guys, or not a hope in hells chance? :confused:
