If you'd be so kind and read my original post here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17967410 before reading the rest of this post that'd really help.

After my PC died (see above) i bought new bits and put it together today. The spec is as follows.

Intel E8400
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 Intel P43
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX

I put it all togther and it turned on absolutely fine, no problems. I put the Vista CD in the drive and rebooted. It loaded up and installed windows with no problems, took maybe 25 minutes.

Once inside windows i insalled all the drivers and such from the CD that game with the motherboard. It all installed fine. After the final reboot and back into windows i went and installed the drivers from the CD that came with my graphics card. Again, there was no problems.

Until, that is, i rebooted. The gigabyte motherboard screen came up as normal, then the DOS looking boot screen came up as normal, then the "Windows Loading" or whatever the message is came up as normal and then all of a sudden monitor goes on standby and displays the familiar "no input source" message. The same problem as before with my old PC!!! The light on the motherbaord goes out at the same time although i can still hear HDD activity and the fans are still blowing. I've tried rebooting a few times and just goes through the same sequence.

I rebooted again but this time hit DEL to enter the BIOS. I didnt change anything i just wanted to see if the monitor would cut out. It doesn't. Only when it gets to loading windows does it cut out.

I just cant believe. I've spent £600 on new parts (money i cant afford really) only to get the same problem as before.

It just doesn't make sense. I dont understand how the monitor goes on the stand by and the mobo light goes off only when windows starts to load.

I'm really going out of my mind with frustration.

I need help!

Have you tried a different monitor? Or a different cable? This happened to me once and it was a faulty cable from the graphics card to the monitor. Although I don't see why installing drivers would have changed anything. The monitor and cable would be the first thing I checked though.

The monitor is a 17" Iiyama that i bought about 4 years ago. I guess its old enough that it might be going screwy but it makes no sense that it worked until i installed the gfx card drivers.

Yeah thats what stumped me :/ You can't even uninstall the drivers now though can you? Sorry I can't be any more help.

I tried getting into safe mode by booting from the vista cd but i cant select the option because my usb keyboard wont work until windows loads.

Just a thought but try swapping the gfx output
I.e. try using the `other` connector on the gfx card.
My main system is connected to the secondary port and i get similar to what you described when updating drivers :)

It could be the RAM, try taking one stick out and booting the pc, then try it with the other RAM and see if there is a problem.

I've tried both the connectors on the gfx card. No help.

I dont know if any of you read the first thread i made but this all started spontaneously on my old system. Everything was fine on friday. On saturday it started messing up. Put together a new system today. Everything was fine until i install the drivers.

Unless you can get a standard port keyboard even a shot of one from a mate you are kaput.

What you need to do it plug in the normal keyboard and start in safe mode. once in here you will need to go to the control panel and remove the drivers for the gfx card.

I had the axact same issue, i tried to set the res to high and the monitor didnt support it got the same untill i started up in safe mode.

May be worth while investing in a usb - PS adaptor thats what i have alows me to use a usb keyboard in the standard port.

Also try the usual, 1 stick of ram no ovr clocks as basic as it can get, my opinion is thos is either the refresh rate is set to higher than the monitor is set for or the res is, untill you get in on safe mode and un instal drivers id say your stuck

Is it the same case? Could be something shorting.

It is the same case but even though the mobo light goes out it doesn't seem to actually be turning off maybe the light going off is normal. And if it was shorting why would it only do it at the exact same moment that vista starts loading?

Do you have another computer that you coupld download and driver cleaner onto? They usualy run from a floppy disk of CD so you could use that to atleast try and get ridof the driver that you installed.

I'll see if i have an adapter.

The problem i see thought is that even though it started when i installed the drivers i had the same monitor problem in my old PC that just started randomly. I hadn't changed the drivers or anything.

Do you have an LCD TV or another monitor available to try?
Process of elimination now, i think that is where i would start, looking at your list of replaced parts, you would logically have to reckon the fault is with something that has not been replaced?

Unfortunately i dont have an LCD TV or another monitor.

The monitor, dvi cable, case and my DVD drive are literally the only things that i've not replaced.

personally id be looking at the monitor
my father had a similar issue about 2 weeks ago luckly i was there to help
everytime the pc was switched on it would show the bios boot screen then go blank
i tried everything from changing cables of the monitor to trying a different video card
finally borrowed a monitor from my younger brother and tried that everything was fine.

the worst of it was it was a new samsung tft only about 3 months old

if you can id see if you could borrow a freinds monitor to check your system or take your monitor to a freind to see if the same happens when connected to their system.

Possibly the GFX standard settings are set to a higher res than your monitor handles.

Have u tried flashing the gfx card?

"Just a stab in the dark butt possibly a power issue" Edit sorry helps if i read ur whole thread psu should suffice
