Hello all,

Im planing a trip to Italy in a few months so I think ive gotta lot of work to do- any one have any tips?

Grazie.

Learn as much of the vocabulary as possible, grammatically Italian isn't a hard language. How long are you going to stay? The best thing I can think of (if you are in school) is to go and be with Italian people as much as you can, if you have any friends you can hang around with their friends etc.

Errr...

Buy a stupidly small car, get stuck in a traffic jam, lean on the horn and read the paper at the same time.

Extra Italian points if you hold the horn down with your foot and lean the seat back as far as possible to relax while reading the paper. ;)

familiarise yourself with the much loved italian stereotypes,
e.g. organ grinder, mafia guy, pizza man, ice cream vendor and so on

BBC2, Tuesday 7 March, 0100-0600 : Italianissimo
A comprehensive 20-part series giving a taste of the Italian language and daily life. From learning how to ask for what you want, to a sample of the Italian fashion world. Filmed in different regions around Italy, from Rome to Florence.

I think the BBC are showing all 20 parts in one big recordable lump, rather than 20 x 5hour parts!
