I'm looking for a brand new system £1k-£1.5k

So, I've been away from Custom PC's for a long time, and since saving up for our first house, I think I'm in the position to get a new rig set up.

So I've been looking at the current systems, Skylake CPU, GTC 10xx series GFX, new m.2 speedy storage.

Mostly for Gaming, I don't think I will be doing any gaming higher than 1080p for the foreseeable future, however, that depends on costs of Monitors.

I was hoping to do a new build in the region of £1k, however I could push to £1,5k with peripherals such as Monitor, Mouse and Keyboard.

I'm useless when it comes to matching RAM with the MoBo and PSU's.

Here is a basket that I would like, however there are probably better alternatives available to bring that list down to around the £1000 mark.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,487.73
(includes shipping: £0.00)

thank you!

While that's not a bad build, I've made a few amendments:

- Bundle Deal on Motherboard/CPU
- GPU - fits with the colour scheme :p
- PSU - not sure on Cougar but Superflower are one of the best
- M2 Drive - These will take 4 lanes of your GPU so removed and put in a 500gb SSD (if that doesn't bother you, add it back in)
- OS - download to USB and install as ISO

Not sure on the case however, you could get something nicer I think and save a little more.

AIO Cooler - these have a limited life span, I would suggest a decent air cooler

thanks for the suggestions, to keep costs down plus only playing at 1080p, I think a GTX 1060 would be absolutely fine, plus SLI option in future should I need/WANT to.

What do you mean about the m.2 storage? why does it take 4 lanes of GPU, I don't understand. I like the idea of the AIO CPU cooler, but happily trade off price vs reliability. As I said, I'm rubbish at getting the right wattage PSU, and yes I have heard Super Flower are good.

regarding the OS, downloading to USB and install as ISO, wouldn't I need a Key from a DVD or just buy online?

The RX 480 and GTX 1060 are very similar in performance.

That cpu cooler is too big for that case. The max stated height is 156mm and the Phanteks is 171mm.

The Crucial MX300 is an extra £10 but gives you another 25GB of storage.

You might as well go for the Gaming 3 bundle as it is a more expensive board for the same price.

I would stick with 16GB Ram as well.

The RX 480 you selected is pre-order. The Nitro+ OC version is in stock though.

Cheers for checking it over, I never check the Air cooler height, I always just assume they fit, that's why I end up RMA'ing them back, rather than just checking!

are you aware of any new products not yet available that would be a better alternative? Where are all the top end AMD cards?
