your fault, I betted my 9 would be louder than your Teg and you won:(

Mine was absolutely the evil bitch of VTEC's! Maini helps though imo due to improved flow, she's a bit insane - We heard Ben from a mile away lol ;)

BTW the S2k is getting there, just bought an AEM v2 intake for her and the Kakimoto single exhast is v v nuts! Sounds like a Scooby with a Nur (but with even headers)

I love it

Is modding an S2k really worth it? I'v heard how people have dropped £k's and not seen any BHP increase.

No not really, you can only go so far then it's forced induction only (but tbh I only wish to go so far, maybe get to the current Carrera2 level with bhp increase and esp gearing mods. But that's far away for me)

Incidentally, a guy used to come to our local Honda Revs meets - he spent about £3000 on Spoon stuff and came out with about 5-6bhp (Can't remember the exact figure but it was really quite insignificant) more than his friend with a stock S2K.

Incidentally I think he got the hump, so like only a real man would, he dropped a Comptech blower in there :D

The F20 is notoriously hard to tune, I *think* it has the highest CR out of all the Hondas and knocking out 240BHP from a stock N/A 2 litre, you've got to wonder if there is much left in there!

Awesome machines though, would probably think about getting one next if it had nearer 300BHP and were a bit quicker. I do think the insurance premium is also incredibly money rinsing for what it is too.

Not surprised tbh Gaijin, there's a certain route to take now with the S to get any real-life gains. Pretty much goes;

AEM v2 intake (pretty much the only one to give any real gains)
Single exit free-flowing exhaust (Kaki is )
Decent exhaust manifold (Mmmmm J's Racing)
AEM ECU tuned by Mase (he recently got 15whp from a completely standard S with one)
Lower 4.77 Gearing (gives a big boost to performance but lowers top-speed)

So with all the mods I reckon Mase will be able to get around 22-25whp and the gearing mod will also give an equal kick to performance so a good all-round increase :D

And let's not forget the Spoon socks, a good 10bhp there :p

Just reinforces my opinion that Spoon and Mugen etc. are designer labels.

You can make the S2000 faster by reinforcing the chassis and removing weight. Give much more per £ spent then engine tuning.

The F20, as above, is pretty much at it's limit and unless you're going FI then you're looking at headwork and perhaps stroker kit which is big big money.

I've got the K20 lump tuned to 240bhp, and unless I do the above, I won't get much more!

Yup, I'm also whacking on Spoon braces all-round - Top and bottom :)

I don't think I'm gonna take the FI route, would prefer a good NA application :D

(tempting though, there's a complete Comptech blower kit for sale at £2.5k atm)

Aye, and its not unfounded either. They make lots of pretty trinkets, but their cams are tame, exhaust aren't bad, but pretty much everything else is mostly cosmetic and if it isn't, performance to price ratio is ridiculous, and nine times out of ten, completely floor-wiped by most other Honda tuning brands out there.

Mugen postures for sales by flashing a hotter Honda concept every now and again, that few people will ever actually see, and Spoon come up with something interesting every now and again, like the gizillion-thousand RPM B16 they made.

All in the name of sales. Which isn't unlike other tuners, but at least they make the effort to try and hide it.

Personally, would much rather throw some money at Jun or similar.

Yeah J's are good.

You can tune the S200 engine, theres one on the forums that makes about 290hp still NA, no idea on the specs though as it is all very secret. They engine looks awesome though.

Main reason for the induction kits and exhaust is the noise though, close to a bike at full throttle on VTEC. Decat definately helps with throttle response. The engine is so good as standard it is difficult to improve, there definately areas for improvement though. problem is the cost. Plus tuners are concentrating on the K20 rather than F20 as it has a much bigger tuning scene.

Although mine made 249 @ Powerstation with a £200 exhaust system. When i first got the car it made 245hp. So i doubt it has lost any power.

If you want big power then supercharger is the way forward. 300hp @ the wheels turns them into very quick cars.

Insurance is expensive as they have a bad accident history and parts are expensive. however they will soon be moving from a group 20/20 car to a group 40/50 car. So premiums may drop (newer ones are 'safer' and even include VSA (traction control), which by all accounts is very good as it is not too instrusive.
