Im usually one of the offenders when it comes to slating EA, I generally dont have a good word to say about them although i do buy some of thier games.

I wanted to give Project reality another go since the new patch came out, i havent played it for a long time and wanted to try it again.I started to download PR and was frantically searching my BF 2 disc, which i eventually found.

I inserted the disc and started to install it ; big problem, i couldn't find the BF 2 case or CD key.

I searched the EA forums about this and the only thing that i found was that i had to buy a replacement disc and code.I browsed the usual sites for another copy Battlefield 2 to buy and was resigned to the fact that i had to buy it again.

While looking around the EA forums i decided on the off chance to PM one of the moderators/admin there.

I gave him the relevant details to do with my account and asked what was best to do. He couldn't find anything to do with BF2 on the account details i gave him. I tried another possible email address i may have used and he was looking into it.

The guy stated that he could see nothing to do with BF2 from the details i supplied but did see that i purchased and registered BF2142.He said because of the fact i have bought a game from EA and my details were registered with it he decided to offer me a free BF2 Key.

Ok so i only saved around £15 and it doesn't make that much difference to them or me, i thought it was a nice touch and that they really didn't have to do that.

So there we are people, not a lot worth banging on about, but for me is was just a little piece of customer service that we don't usually get these days.

Anything similar happen to you ?.

When they remove the 1-year download limit on EADM, then I'll sing their praises.

Kudos to them giving you a CD key, but I'll always hold a grudge for them charging for something that Steam and Impulse offer for free.

Just the opposite. When I attempted to buy crysis via EADM it refused to download more than 100mb before stopping of it's own volition. I spoke to EA tech support and was told to uninstall my anti-virus software and anything else that may be running at the same time. They were trouble shooting a problem to which they did not know the answer. I politely asked for a refund so I could go buy it in the shop instead. They refused, and I since learned that the DVD version had problems of its own with the disc not being recognised or the installer failing due to corruption of data. I kicked up a storm and threated to ring up random numbers at EA's head office and start shouting at people till I got a refund. My money was refunded 48 hours later and I have never purchased an EA game since.

The EADM is a steaming pile of effluent. It has numerous problems, all of which EA know about, but they do not do anything about. Considering the alleged value of EA they could at least afford to get this small piece of software working. They are just a perfect example now of how a large corporation can get away with shafting the consumer.

p.s. ello matey :D

Ah ha, hello mate.

That is really bad, In a way you have done the right thing and not bought a game since. I suppose in a way thats what we should all do if we are not happy. My situation was not a lot in terms of money, certainly nothing for them. Just not what i expected.

p.s., i will be around later (7-8ish) if you fancy l4d ? :-)

Is a shame corporates dont all have that attitude by default though, the world would be a better place.

i recently re-installed the EA downloader program and was suprised to see all the games i have bought via the service are still available for download. I never paid for any extra download extension so was happy to see i can still download/install games i bought years ago ...

They did a similar thing for me as well but with C&C3. I bought it 2nd hand and despite the seller saying it hadnt been registered online, it had! I emailed EA and they gave me a new CD key :)

I have lost the dvd to cod4, I still have proof of purchase and a cd key, called helpline and the really helpfull guy said buy another. I ended up downloading it and my cd key works a treat.

My C&C3 dvd cracked somehow so I bought another for a tenner, now I have 2 working keys and one working dvd.

More in relation to this thread, sounds as if it's just a nice employee you need to thank, not really EA :)
