Not really it will work fine, but your making a mistake not going to intel it will not cost that much more than AMD.

i plan to upgrade the cpu next month when i get loads of money (3/4k). so i guess if i have any issues with the AMD, i will change to intel and give you a cookie. but for now, AMD will do me the trick

if your getting loads of money next month, the smart thing to do would be not upgrade anything and just wait. amd''s are so far behind what intel has to offer right now that honestly only a fool would choose a current amd pc. £170 for a quad core core2? amd has nothing.

dont say we didnt warn you.

why not wait and go intel? your making a mistake and will kick yourself afterwards. IF your hitting that much money in a month why go AMD?

i tell you what, if i have any problems, ill place an order on OcUK for an intel, and ill buy you all a 250GB harddrive if your right.

if not, then stickroad is on the list for the HD

Whats all this about? :p :)

If you have a small budget and your not overclocking go for AMD. Though if you have quite a bit of money like you said you will in a few months, even if your not overclocking go for Intel, since Intel have released chips like the E6850 that at stock they are 3GHZ so plenty fast enough.

we didnt say you'd have problems:) but i tell you what, when your pc is up and running you should come back here and throw up some benchmarks. people will show you just how much quicker their c2d's are. how much faith do you really have in amd? ;)

the AMD core duo 6000+ is 3GHZ and only £100. would have gone for it if i could find a MB to support it

Big mistake not going for intel, thats all im saying

These comments just dont help. Its not just as simple as Go Intel end of story, ditch AMD. It all depends on various things.

If your on a low budget and wont be overclocking, AMD will give you better performance for the price over Intel.

If your overclocking, what ever the budget you have go Intel, thats providing you can get a decent enough Motherboard and some Memory so you can actually overclock the chip.

If you have quite a bit of money to burn and your not overclocking, Go Intel, as Intel offers chips that are 3GHZ at stock that would kick any AMD CPU to the ground.

Finally if you have money to burn and you will be overclocking, Go Intel.

like what? he's buying new ram, and new cpu and a new motherboard. what stops him from choosing intel instead? its not like the only thing he's upgrading is the cpu.

i like that fact that he ignored (sound) advice

Money for a start and weather he will be overclocking or not.

Tell me if you have a low budget and wont be overclocking you would spec a Intel system when you can quite clearly get a faster AMD system for the same price?

Its all Intel, Intel, Intel, Intel around here. No one takes into consideration other things.

Its just like, Spec Thread, 300 pound, i wont be overclocking and bang you all spec a Intel system.

don't get me wrong its a nice system, alough I think I would have budgeted for a 6000 core.
