Sorry guys, but it's been so long since I upgraded or built a system and I have no real clue about what's available/compatible :o

Spec I was thinking about is:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM (CP-135-IN) £114.95
Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-003-AK) £53.95
Sapphire X1600 Pro 256MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-117-SP) £54.95
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-018-SA) £42.50
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) (HS-017-AR) £14.95
Antec NSK4400 Mini Tower Case - 380W SmartPower PSU (CA-052-AN) £43.95

Subtotal £325.25
Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £9.95
VAT £58.66
Total £393.86

I have all the rest of the components (including OCZ Value Pro 1GB DDR2 PC5400 667Mhz Dual Channel Kit) and just wanted to check that the above is all compatible (without bios fiddling) and also that there isn't a better option available for less/not much more money??

Thanks as always :)

I was going to say change the Samsung for a Seagate 7200.10 as it is faster but it costs about £10 more so that might not be an option. I'd probably buy a slightly higher wattage PSU especially if you might be thinking about overclocking, maybe aim for the 400w or the Sonata II with 450w but it depends how tight the budget is.

Other than that I think everything is fine :)

Cool thanks, can probably afford to change the HDD. The case/cpu is basically just a stopgap until I can afford to upgrade the psu, and as I am not going to o/c until then I assume the 380W psu supplied should be ok??

Yep, should be ok then under the express proviso that it won't be for overclocking until the PSU is replaced :) Conroe is supposed to be less demanding in terms of watts than most A64s.
