I am one of the culpits to have the stupid annoying lights that shine in your rear view mirror and dazzel you:(

I hav put my headlight adjustment to 0, but still me beams are all over the place!

What can i do? Can i re-adjust the things by myself? Or do i take the car in?
How much would it cost? Cars a mondeo 1999(or 2000 as my insurance papers say!)

I'm sorry people :(

there is an adjustment screw on the light itself IIRC.
besides which alignment should be checked as part of your MOT.
are they really THAT bad?

the rough way to do this is park your car facing your garage door when it's dark, switch on the lights, and adjust it in an approximate fashion.an MOT station has a board with the correct light "footprint" marked up and can adjust it to the correct specification.

by the way if you decide to pay for this then don't even consider offering more than 20 notes...it's a job that will take almost zero effort and approximately 5-10 minutes of the mechanics time.
hope this helps.

I had this done as part of an mot retest along with emissions tuning and both were under a tenner

Ok, having a go at it myslef!

I have noticed that putting the direction thingy on 4 makes the light goes down, and putting them on - (under 1) puts them up!

So, do i do it on 4 or - ?

while we're speaking about lights do you guys leave your beams on while on a 2 lane motorway? its just the local motorway i sometimes go on to get to dundee, the drivers at night put there beams on  its not like it was foggy or there were major sharp turns etc...

0 (or -) is the highest setting as far as I know. If they're dazzling cars in front you should set them to a higher number.

Assuming you're talking about full beam headlights... doesn't this dazzle cars in front/coming the other way?

Turn them off.

If their line of sight is high enough (they are in a tall vehicle etc) they will see your beam over the armco and it could still dazel them. Always dipped beam when other cars are oncoming, regardless of road type.

I gave up! no matter what i did, my right light was way brighter! (there both the same bulbs btw, halfords super brights)

Going to my formula one autocenter in 10 mins!

Well at least i wont dazzle druvers anymore, and hopefully have better visabilty on the road with proper adjusted beams.

woah guys i wasnt saying i do it, i'm on about drivers on the local motorway they seem to need there full beams on

0 is for no load in car except driver and passenger
1 and above is for increasing loads making the back of the car sit down at the back to make the lights be on a correct level in accordance with te load

i think they should make this an automatic adjustment because how are we supposed to know which is correct

In some cars (often estates as I guess their reasoning is they are used to carry loads more often) this is automatic. It really isn't that difficult. Set it to 0, if you add a couple of back seat passengers and fine you're dazling people set it to one. As your loads inceased set it to 3/4/5.
