Im still on a 3080...

I'm in the same boat! Still rocking a GTX1080 and really should've upgraded sooner :D
yeah i wanted to upgrade around covid, but decided to say oh one more year...prices can't go up that high. how wrong i was...

9070XT is a great value upgrade at less than the RRP of the 3080 at launch.
I need a Nvidia card for content work, if i was just getting it for games i'd get a AMD card. sadly can't atm until AMD / developers better supports my industry.

Understandable then. A shame nvidia aren't willing to take the leap they could from generation to generation.

Nvidia, care about two things. Shareholder profit and just doing slightly more than last gen to be top dog. Sad really as we all suffer.

Similar position here, on a 3090 but play at 4k.

4090 and 5080 are silly money for used/new GPU's though unfortunately.

unless I can bag a 4090 with a waterblock for under 1K I see myself waiting till next gen If I have to spend 2k+ on a 90 class card I want it to be a massive leap.

While there are some games I like to play maxed (oblivion remaster, CP2077 DLC with path tracing etc) I'm in no rush as life has changed so I don't have much free time anymore after work, gym , fixing the house, joys for being a 40 single nerd) than and I'm happy replaying old favs in new forms (DoW remaster, D2R, boomer shooters) which my 3090 run just fine.

And I have my ps5 for stuff that run better overall there (Elden Ring for example etc)

I'm on a 3070 FE with a 1440p. I plan on upgrading to 5070 Ti soon but I'm afraid my 5800x CPU is gonna hold me back.

I'm still on a cheap Radeon 7600. I don't think I even play any games newer than about 5 years old anymore. Which is handles without much of a sweat.

It looks like this is the trend too, because the prices of old hardware is not dropping and new games are falling way short of projected sales. Crap new titles combined with Nvidia/AMD pricing their GPUs out of the market for most has slowed progession to a halt. It feels like we are reaching the point where it's not sustainable anymore.

I've been looking at the 5070ti too. It's more than I want to spend for what it is, but I just want a new card now, I'm sick of waiting and I've got a bunch of games I want to play on my 4k TV, or 4k DLSDR on my 1440p monitor and the 3080 VRAM starts to bite in both situations

I spent nearly £1700 on a 3090 when they first came out. I told myself this was a "for ever " card. but it wasnt. Bought a 5080 a few months ago.
