This machine was just sitting idle, showing the desktop. Then as I walk past, the mouse started moving by itself

I turned the router off, but it carried on moving! It opened the start menu, then closed it, before opening MSN and nearly deleting one of my contacts before it stopped. The movement was coherent - ie. not like the interference movement you get on mice when they're on the wrong surface. It looked like a human doing it.

The mouse is a wired one. The keyboard, however, is wireless. But it has no mouse controls.

The machine:

- was not connected to the internet/LAN, as I turned the router off.
- was the only machine running in the house.
- is not Wifi enabled.
- is Bluetooth enabled, but no device was connected as the icon goes green when there is.

It now seems to be fine!

I really haven't got a clue on this. Anyone?

Jon

Edit: It just did it again

Restarted the system, and whatever/whoever it was logged onto a user account from the Welcome Screen (no password, although there are now).

I'm confused! And slightly scared lol.

One of my sisters friends randoimly hacked her over msn and started opening and closing the cd drive which was freaky. What where you doing/ had been doing just before it happened? What had you done before you left it to go into idle?

Haha thanks for all the replies. Made me laugh :D

Found out what it was. The wireless keyboard receiver can also be used with a mouse (which we don't use), and apparently our next door neighbours have just bought exactly the same mouse.

So it was interfering :)

Hahaha thats funny. So they started there pc and went onto msn and were doing the same thing on yours :| thats bizzar. But they would have had to have the msn icon/program thingy in the same place as you.

Yep it was strangely coincidental. Which is why I sorta ruled out some interference from another system - it really looked like whoever was doing it could see my screen!

Thanks again guys :)

Jon

Well the mouse is wired, but the keyboard is a Logitech diNovo wireless one. It comes with a wireless mouse, but I don't use that. I prefer the wired one.

But next door apparently has that wireless mouse, and our reciever is picking it up :)

But as he has the same make of wireless mouse, surely the connection should work both ways.
