I'm trying to find my son a gaming laptop, please if anyone has some spare time could you throw some recommendations at me if thats ok!
my budget is around £500-£700 which i know is kinda low for a gamin laptop but all i can spare at the moment

a bit rusty gaming laptops at the moment but if it plays latest games on good settings then thats great, dont have to be on ultra etc.

huge thanks for any info at all

If you shop around you can get the below for £749. I know it's over budget, but worth it if you can squeeze it.

ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507RM AMD Ryzen 7 6800H 16GB DDR5 RAM 512GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 15.6'' FHD Windows 11 Home Laptop FA507RM-HN082W

What sort of games is your boy planning on playing?

my other son has a pc but im still behind on that has hes still got a rx580 which is still running very well even on newer games but was trying to find a cheap price 6600/Xt as budget won't allow higher and that should do the trick unless all games start becoming more UE5 based :(

my old room was super tiny and its amazing how much you can organise space if u want a pc in it :)

i think more and more games are going to be unreal engine 5 in the coming years, my first eperience knowningly with that engine was the robo cop game and it nose dived my fps to 30 (fully maxed out) at some points on a 7800xt running at 1440p and averaged about 64fps with a ryzen 5700x and 32 gig 3600 corsair veangence

the 5700 sapphire pulse was a nice upgrade for my rx480 8 gig card reference card, then upgraded the 5700 pulse to the sapphire 7800xt pulse, the 5700 is a awesome 1080p card, it trades blows with the 1080ti :)

yeah im afraid so as he has no room in his bedroom for a pc setup :(, and he mostly likes to game in the living room :) .
Is a console an option? Could just put up a monitor when needed (Which would be a bigger / better ergonomically)

All of those games are on console (bar GW2) - Mw3, fortnite, have mouse and keyboard support too if that's a dealbreaker, just an idea :)

Performance of an Xbox SX or Ps5 would be much greater.
