iMac - 20"

Hi,

I have now decided I am going to buy a 20" iMac.

Are we likely to see a new model soon?

It's in mid-cycle at the moment according to this.

Media event next week to announce new kit, most likely new ipods, BUT and speed bump has been discussed as a possibility, if you can wait a week i would

It's a possibility but there probably won't be any radical changes.

If you want it now just go get it and enjoy it.

It's another keynote. It'll mainly be for iPod updates but they may nudge the iMac up as they sometimes do.

If you can afford the extra for the 24" I'd strongly recommend you do that as it has a lot better panel. Apple Macs have a long shelf life anyway so the extra investment would be worth it.

I would go for a 24", but worried it may be a little large for the small space i have.....

But, well worth it if i can fit it in?

Is this 24" inch screen size or the complete iMac?

If so, then yes, I think I could find the extra space

The screen is the iMac - the electronics are behind the screen. 4 inches extra diagonal is about 3 inches extra width.

I've just had a 24'' one and i'll measure it now for you

Height 52cm
width 57cm
Depth (of stand) 20cm

that's all the space you'll need as the stand is deep enough to accomodate things being plugged into the back.

Unless you are living in a cave or some other funky place you can fit the extra few inches and you will kick yourself for not doing so.

Just go and look at a 20" and a 24" and see the difference.
