iMac 2013 - Haswell Refresh Released

Awesome Valo, my dad has the exact same spec as yours.

I am glad you went for the i7 as every little helps pushing that 780GTX :)

Congrats on the discount.

Will the iMac's get a retina display?

I'm looking at picking up a top spec iMac alongside a MacBook air or 13" retina MacBook Pro post Christmas but was just curious if there is any hints the iMac would get a retina display, unless that's a silly question.

Given they harked on about the Mac Pro being able to run 3 4K displays, it's only a matter of time until they release a 4K Thunderbolt Display, although I expect the Mac Pro will be out in the wild for a while before they do it. The Thunderbolt display is also due an upgrade anyway as the last iMac redesign gave it an advantage over the TD with the new filter/bonding.

I'd imagine the iMac will follow that at some point, being a premium option, much like the rMBP when it was released.

Doubt we'll see it this year though. I don't buy the 'it'll be too $$$' argument, because Apple have made ultra high res screens at every other size affordable when they weren't before (economy of scale etc).

Just took delivery of mine :)

27"
i5
8gb ram (will upgrade it to either 16gb or 32gb myself)
gtx780m
3tb fusion hard drive

I just hope i wont regret not updating the cpu to an i7

Hello, can someone advise if I can use a 27" Imac's screen from a displayport graphics card?

Could I connect my PC graphics card into the DP for games etc?

So pic of the new iMac up on the wall, looks nice and goes well with my chair lol, the thing must be over 20 to 30 years old (Eames EA108)

How does your magic mouse work with the glass surface? I was told they simply wouldnt work? I was hoping to put a black glass sheet ontop of my existing black desk.

I got my 27" iMac setup at the weekend finally. I'm still learning and finding my way around OSX but I'm loving it so far :D

I have just spent a little over £1400 on a whole new system, but now i want an iMac :(

Thinking i should wait until they have retina display though, as i love it on my mini!

I am tempted to buy one, as it's very sleek and tidy, and enjoy my macbook air. Means I will retire my trusted PC. I don't really game on PC so not a big deal losing out there.

Only thing that gets me is how much it is versus an equivalent PC, but have a colleague who still has nusextra access

Word of warning if anyone is a musician and thinking of buying the new iMac, any audio interface will not be compatible with the fusion drive. Apparently Apple are working on a fix but currently you'll get a lot of sound distortion and the only way round it is to boot off an external drive.

Order moved to preparing for dispatch...how long does it take from herein for anyone else who has recently bought a BTO iMac?

When I ordered a BTO MBA couple of months ago the delivery dates were wrong (was delivered before)

Preparing for Dispatch Dispatched: 4 - 6 business days
Delivery: 19 Dec, 2013 - 23 Dec, 2013 by Standard Shipping

So excited!! Spec is;

NVIDIAGeForceGTX780M 4GB GDDR5
3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
256GB Flash Storage

Picked it up yesterday. For some reason UPS did not load it onto their van, so I went to their depot in North London to pick it up, then traversed to West London on the tube with the huge box which was fun.

Really impressed, super fast, looks amazing and using a machine that is dead quiet makes a huge change from the Antec 1200 and a billion fans.

Not sure of the mouse, feels a bit meagre, so trying out the touchpad to see how I get on.

Screen is beautiful! OSX Mavericks was also preinstalled and got all the Pages etc for free.
