I opened up my late-2012 iMac to replace a faulty power supply, and when I put it back together, I carelessly damaged the internal display cable port on the logic/motherboard.
I am trying to work out what options I have.
I think that the port will need to be soldered. That is beyond my limited skill level and I don't want to spend too much on the machine. Everyone I have spoken to so far wants to replace the whole logic board which is much more than I want to spend.
In the interim, I have ordered a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor to try to use the mac with an external display, but I am not sure this will work as I can't configure it using the existing display.
Is there anything else I can try?
