Hi guys,

I have just been offered an iMac for £250. Do you think it's worth it?

All the info i have is

iMac 7.1
Intel core duo
2.4 ghz
2gb Memory

Ive seen it and it's in perfect condition, but never owning a mac before i dunno if the price is worth it. If i don't get on with OSX do you think i could sell it on for a profit?

It's the 24"

Also he carn't find the CD's that came with it (Ive got him to bring it upto me at work so i can have a play and ill let him know by 6 if i want it)

So is there away to get it back to how it comes out the shop with no disks?

Yes - contact apple and ask for new disks! They will send out replacements for under 20 quid. Or just buy Snow Leopard for 29 and install (though you will lose some apps if you do a clean install)

You can also more quickly and easily set up a new user and then use that... and delete the old user.

Awsome thanks. For now i think ill do the create a new user thing and delete his account.

And ill order Leopard, can you order it from the apple site? It has version 10.4.11 i take it thats outdated? He said hes only ever done the upgrades you download from the manager

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal mate. For that money I would go for it.

My mate sold an old school iMac (older case looks) on ebay the other day for about £600. with Apple computers being such fashion items these days, they seem to become vintage after a while!

Awsome well i just told him ill have it :)

This is going to take a while to get used too.

One more thing (I promise, lol) is there anything i can use to stream media from the mac to my xbox over my network? Or is that only possible in windows?

Not stolen lol, i was with him the day he got it. He has a touchscreen HP computer now and never uses this so wanted rid.

Gonna see if i can work out how to setup mobile internet now lol

*EDIT* Oh it comes with an installer on the dongle to install on mac haha, nice

Yup, I have the exact same iMac, 24' , 2gig Ram, C2D, and was seriously considering an offer for £300 last year. Well, then I discovered iMovie and now I'm using it again.

Yeah im not sure what im going to use it for =\

But i seen it and wanted it haha. Got a lot of playing around to do i supose, it's a big jump after using windows forever

Cheers Kawolski.

Left it at home today, but was happy to see logmein.com support macs :) So ive set that up so i can still have a play while im at work

Stuck again :p lol

Ive got connect360, payed for it and followed a guide on how to set it all up, and it says the movie files need to be in WMA or WMV format.

Does anyone know of free software that will convert it for me? Would be an added bonus if it could also convert video files to iPhone format :)

Cheers
