iMac and laser printers

I am a complete noob when it comes to iMac so thought I would ask here.
a colleague in work has an iMac and wants to get a laser printer to use with it.

is it like a pc where you can just plug in usb and away you go?
are there any brands of printers to avoid because of computability issues?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

my samsung laser came with mac drivers, so i had no issues whatsoever

A few work with no drivers both my networked 1320n hp and minolta5450 work no drivers needed to be installed

mine worked without drivers, but i installed them to be able to use all the features and utils.

depends on the version but OSX will generally download them for you or already have them and will install upon you plugging the printed in. Best to check first though.

thanks guys - I have had a bit of check and two in her price range have iMac drivers so I have given her a choice.

Ricoh Aficio SPC-220N or Samsung CLP-310 both sub £100.
