Arrived at lunchtime - had a 15 minute play with it! It's pretty huge (24"), and the display is stunning. Even from across our lounge (which is 30') it looks immensely bright... very pleased!

Gonna take me a while to get used to the keyboard though (wireless) - having a hell of a job trying to do stuff like alt+d in the browser (address bar) and ctrl-enter (to add .com to an address in the browser bar!).

Is Firefox better than Safari?

It depends. I use Win/Mac/Linux so prefer using the same browser on all.

Safari is often faster but less stable and has issues on some sites.
Firefox is slower but more reliable and has more extensions available.

Just try them out, only you know which one is best for you.

I've used Firefox on Windows for years, so it might be more natural to me. Safari seems very quick, but maybe that is just the new Mac!

Only problem I have is my Dell M1530 laptop looks dull as hell in comparison to the 24" screen now :(

Congrats, glad it arrived :)

I'm a Firefox user as I just generally prefer it and I'm one of those old people that doesn't like change!
Be sure to check out the Mac and OSX sticky - has plenty of useful info there :)

safari is nice, but firefox is better imo :)

all the addons etc., and on my macbook use multiclutch and gestures work :D

Which iMac did you get mate and what you going to use it for? Just out of interest

Hi mate - I got the 24" iMac, 2.66Ghz, 4GB RAM and went with the default graphics card.

I do a fair bit of programming (mainly .Net, so I'll be using Bootcamp & VMWare Fusion for that), but do some iPhone development too, a bit of Photoshop and a bit of video editing.

I'll play the occasional game - older stuff though, as I have a PS3 / 360 for newer games.

Delighted with the Mac so far - taking a bit of getting used to though! The screen is brrrriiiigggghhhttt!!!

I love my 24" 2008 iMac. There are great machines. Screen seems to burn in quiet a lot though. I wonder what the warranty stance is on that.

Congrats on your iMac, its a special moment when you first fire it up and see the little Apple welcome video - I was dancing around the room like a chid with his first toy!

Have you played with much of the software yet? I love iLife and find iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD great to put together really nice movies and slideshows.

How do you mean burn in? As in image retention? My 2008 24" has no problems...that I have spotted yet!

The bar at the top will wear in eventually. It should take 3 years or so though, not weeks.

Tinker with your brightness and contrast if you have a lot of after burn effects.

I'm loving it so far!

Got Windows 7 running via Fusion, seems pretty quick.

iPhoto is brilliant, added all my honemoon photos and created a scrapbook video thing, we had a good laugh just trying out different soundtracks!

Couldn't be happier with it :)

Im hooked :)

Yeah, I have a background and when the mac boots up and shows the blue screen after the apple logo you can see parts of the background. Also does it with windows that are left in one place for a few hours.
