iMac buying advice

I'm about to buy an iMac for my wife who is about to embark on an MA in English.
We are fully 'Apple'd' up everywhere else except PC.
Any advice on what to buy would be appreciated.

Any iMac that you can buy will be fine. The most important thing is to pick the screen size appropriate to your requirements, and to get a Fusion Drive.
