Good evening all,

Although I was not intending to own any Apple hardware, I've just bought one on the cheap (My girlfriend won an illustration competition).

Currently using an old Linksys WRT54G router, which, has caused numerous problems but is currently in good working order. However, the iMac has limited access. It's constantly connecting and disconnecting.

I am no network expert; I've fixed problems down to trial and error in the past so I could use a little help if people could be so kind.

Would an AirPort Extreme Base Station solve the problem? Or should I purchase a new router?

Many thanks,

Andy.

What version of WRT54G is it? If you're lucky you could load tomato, which would solve a few wireless issues. Mac can be a pain tbh, wouldn't be the first that should work but wifi just doesn't.

You really need to give more info :)

Edit: Actually the last person I heard with Mac issues and wifi was this guy http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showthread.php?t=64482&highlight=macbook , although I'd be looking for interference as a first step. inSIDDer is what a windows machine would use, not sure about mac but there must be some free wireless survey tool out there for them.

I know. Apologies about that; Was in a rush to go and play basketball!

It's version 2.2.
