My problem is an extension of this thread from a few months back, the problem stopped occurring when I used the iMac at home. The computer was barely on for 20 minutes before shutting down and refusing to turn on. The only solution is to unplug it and try again about 30 minutes later.

I couldn't find anyone with the same problem or with a possible solution and since the problem stopped I didn't look too hard.

Now I'm in London, the problem has returned. Luckily it's still under warranty but the London based Apple stores are only offering me a Genius appointment during the week, I don't get home from work until 6:30pm so this is tough to do.

Does anyone have experience with the independent Apple retailers for repairs, will they charge despite being under warranty?

Is there a central location listing all retailers providing support?

I would love to get this sorted tomorrow but that might be a bit ambitious, otherwise I'll have to wait until the main Apples stores are free during a weekend.

I don't know how it works, but if so that would be more convenient.

Do I still need to book an appointment or just turn up with it?

Took it in this morning, but could be waiting up to two weeks. Fingers crossed it's done earlier.

They must have one hell of a backlog.
