iMac dissatisfaction.

Bezel is included in the 'part' for a replacement top case for a non-unibody MacBook.

I've got one here.

If you mean the display clamshell on a unibody MacBook, I've replaced them for people for free too.

Good to know there are people that can start to get it now. If you talk to the super useful folks through GSX, they always told us not to do them.

Personally I find Imac useless, Iphones, Ipods, have at least some sense in them, their hardware isnt far off competition and sometimes even exceeds in benchmarks, so buying either would not hurt my common sense. Macbook is already pushing it, although you could argue its a decent price to pay for that "thinness" and design, since most likely you wont convert files or game on it.
Imac for me is "facepalm" uses Intel processers and nvidia or Ati video cards and charges 10 times more because it has bitten apple on it, for same price you could get very decent PC that could play everything you throw at it but by buying mac you`re stuck to minecraft.
I own Iphone 4s and I am far from apple fan boy, I bought the best phone that was on the market by specs and it was iphone, so Imacs or macbooks dont make much sense to me.

There's a whole world of software related compatibility and preference here, the difference between OSX and Windows for example...

There is a premium you pay for the brand of course, but that's just the way of the world for the designer element of the laptop yes. I can accept that for you it seems like "facepalm" but without considering more than the fact that its similar components in a fancy container, and looking at the software side, in terms of the user requirements your response for me is "facepalm"

Also, have you done any tests on the new iMacs? You can game, and convert files just fine sir, yes there are better things out there but there almost always will be.

I mean, you're wrong and all, but the main reason I've quoted you is...incoherent text is incoherent.

Anywho, firstly, partial trolling. We aren't talking about value for money, we're talking about a user complaining about something trivial. And you do realise that the iMac's 6970M offers pretty darn close performance to your GTX560 Ti, right?

Secondly, compare like for like. Compare all-in-ones against the iMac. The iMac is superior to 99% of them in performance and value. Not talking about Mac vs PC here, just pure components and numbers.

Thirdly, yes, with the MacBook Pro you pay for the design, and the materials. You are correct there. You do end up with a thinner machine that is more refined.

Finally, "convert files or game on it"...? What exactly is "converting files"?

If you're going to come in all guns blazing, at least have some bullets in them, and not blanks. Do some proper research next time before making your argument.

You are aware that the aluminium of the case can act as a massive heat sink. If it wasn't hot on the outside it would be very hot on the inside.

The end user experience is far more important than specifications.

Also design and aesthetics do matter to people. If I built a gaming machine, something like the HAF X case has great specs... but it looks like a 13 year old designed it. No thanks. I'd rather pay more for something that's more or less the same on the inside but looks more grown up and stylish externally. Same for jeans, it's all denim, more or less, but I'd rather buy Diesel than M&S.

Also this thread is hilarious. Keep it up.

You're comparing an iMac all in one to a desktop tower PC. Compare it to other all in one machines and finding one with the same specs at a more affordable price is going to be difficult. Asus, Sony and MSI all offer all in one machines. At 700 quid or more they're still using i3 or mobile i5 chips. At 999 quid the iMac offers 1080p, a quad core desktop intel S chip in a solid aluminium chassis (compared to the plastic of Asus, Sony and MSI). At 1300 quid Asus is still offering a machine with a 740QM Core i7.

It's easy to dismiss an iMac against a custom built desktop gaming machine. It's much harder when comparing it against machines that actually try and mimic it.

This thread is like trying to choose a prostitute, you could buy the cheapest for the base experience, you could pay for the high end pc version; big boobs, nice bum, no aids, reasonable age, but there would be a nagging problem. The alternative is buying the attractive escort, costs a bit more, might not be up for doing the extras for extra cash, but will provide far and away the best experience of what you want, without feeling like you have hired a prostitute....

As long as I get the most bang for my buck.

lulz... so looking at the systems with that in mind, what does it make the 12 core Mac Pro? :D

Well, the 12 core Mac is $5000 for the base without additions. The HP Z820 is $5000 but only 8 cores (though using newer Xeons), only 500GB HDD compared to the Mac Pro 1TB and according to the HP spec graphics aren't included.

Again, when you compare Macs to similar machines the savings are minimal. When you compare them to machines they have nothing in common with, it's easy to find more for less.

I'm just looking through the HP site now. They do a 27" all in one 'workstation'. The base spec uses an i3-2120, the other models use E3 xeons and Intel HD/Quadro M graphics... LOL.

Personally OSX is over rated but a lot of the apple hardware is very nice and a reason to buy it in itself, especially when there is little price difference to the competition.

which is why you should always buy that decent Asus, Sony, Samsung, Lenovo or Apple machine rather than some cheap and natty Acer or plastic fantastic PC world "bargain". Apple (and a few of the other PC manufacturers) realise this, luckily!

Why is that funny?]

Just laughing at how far we've come in the last few years. Not long ago people would have said "if you want a workstation you don't get an all-in-one". But here is HP doing a workstation spec all-in-one. I really like the look of it. It's still more expensive than the iMac, it's using Xeons and ECC RAM, but it's a formidable machine on spec alone.

Your Mac runs cooler than my cobbled together PC that I have just now, the only difference is that as long as it's within thermal limits, I couldn't care any less if I tried. Just to give you perspective, I'm a long way from a Mac fanboy, and I also think you're a fool, making a mountain from a molehill and are trying to make excuses about why you don't like your Mac after spending £2000 on it.

Does it matter what the temperature is, as long as it's within the limits specified by the chip manufacturer.

Which it is.

I have no idea what temperature my iMac(s) run at, I've never felt the need to install temperature monitoring software. I know they get hot when gaming or converting video but the fans kick in as appropriate and they don't fall over due to the heat.

If it's not failed, what's the problem?
