iMac G4 Problems

Have a flat panel iMac G4, 15", 800mhz etc. etc.

Used to work fine, unfortunately now when i try to boot it up it reaches the Apple screen and then an error about a Kernel Malfunction or similar appears and it doesn't progress any further, it does however boot in "safe mode" properly.

Any ideas on the issue and possible fixes?

Have you got a Mac OS X CD/DVD or hardware test CD?


Try doing a hardware test: http://www.thinkmac.net/blog/archives/mac-tips-daily-211-apple-hardware-test.html

Or you could reinstall. I hope you've got a backup.

you could try repairing the permissions with the boot CD,
other than that i would suggest booting into safe mode, backing up all your stuff and reinstalling.... if all goes well then your hardware is probably alright and its just one of those anyone software glitches that happen.
