Hi guys/gals, hopefully you can help diagnose a fault with the above mentioned imac.
Turns on and operates 100%, but then maybe after a few hours it just cuts out dead. It can usually be turned back on, and it will stay on but for a shorter period of time, but each time this is done its shorter and shorter until it doesnt respond to the power button.
To me this all stinks of overheating, but I dont know what would be overheating, cpu, psu or something else.
I'm looking to sell it, so if I can get an idea of what needs done it would be easier.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jonny

It's running 10.4. Just went to install iStat and it cut out just as I was about to download it. Seems to be getting worse. I'll have another go later on.

Thanks for your reply

Sounds like what my Acer was doing, sorry its not made by Apple but anyway.

It turned out mine was overheating, only way i could get it to turn back on was to unplug the PSU kettle lead and then plug it back in.

Try giving it a good old clean out on the inside with a small make-up brush, (shh they work great when dusting inside :p), then try again, but it does sound like something is overheating.

Good Luck!
