Morning,

Just curious to as how I would go about doing this, I am not wanting to write any disks just simply read and play Blue Ray's on my iMac or MacBook.

Which drive would be recommended?

Also how easy is this to do.. Is Blue Ray supported on OSX?

Really would appreiate any info on this as I currently have no idea what so ever..

(Would I just be better off buying a blue ray player for my HD Tv? Also what can my iMac screen display at quality wise?)

Looking forward to any replies!

In theory a normal blu-ray usb drive should be supported, however OSX has no native software or any software apart from VLC that i can think of that can play blu-ray disks.

Better off ripping them to digital format for playback if you want to use on your mac :(

And VLC team failed to get it reading copy protected blu-rays.

There is some software that works well, but you need an active internet connection for it to work as the decryption is done at the companies servers.

The external Lacie drives work well on OSX, but officially there isn't any supported Blu-Ray playback for Apple devices. You'd be better off with a separate player as well as the burner if you can afford it.

Guess that's: http://www.macblurayplayer.com/

Unbelievable that theres no official Apple support for Blu-ray but I guess if there were then we'd have to watch that stack of disks we've got downstairs rather than buying HD via iTunes. And we can't be doing that can we!

I was aware of this believe there is software to be purchased but may just go down the route of buying a Blue Ray player, seems much more hassle free!
