Behind you... Naked!
I recently got an old iMac

233Mhz / 32MBRAM / 4GBHD

I have uppedt he RAM to 1 whopping 100MB ( No stopping me now eh? )

TheHD I wantedto swap but im failing miserably to even get the old one out, so its staying for now.

Anyway, I have, as of this morning, given it a nice fresh install of MacOS 8.6

Its running wonderfully and Im happy as larry with it ( Except for one thing ... )

I cannot get it to talk to the internet or even the router...

As far as things look, the Ethernet port is working ( how do I know? )

Its connected directly to my router.

I simply dont have a clue as to what the Mac wants to know?

It seems to want to know various info and I have setup the mac as close to the same as I have the PCs, but its just not able to do anythign?

Anyone offer any steps I need to do to resolve things?

I don't think Safari was backported to the classic OSes. IFAIK the earl;iest versions worked with OS X 10.1 and above. iCab 3.0.5 is probably your best bet.

EDIT: Though its CSS support is minimal at best. :( Perhaps WaMCom would be best.

Ah ICab...

The guy who wrote that originally wrote CAB on the Atari ( Crystal Atari Browser ) and then ported it to the Mac.

I use CAB on the Falcon and TT for browsing... Sure, compared to the PC browsers its fallign short of the mark, but then just try doing as much as CAB does on a program that will fit onto a floppy 4 times over!

CSS Support is minimal at best? if its anything like the Atari version... What CSS Support?

HayWire has taken over CAB however.

Anyway, were gettign off the track a little here

Ok, I got hold of MacOS 9.2 too! - this failed to even try to install ( Blank screen during startup )

What is the min specs for getting that up and on?

I have not tried to do it on this 8.6 setup only because the 8.6 setup is working just fine... If I can get the HD out I will throw in a 40GB ( Maybe overkill but it worth it )

Cheers B.T.I... Much appreciated
