Hi,

I am having problems with my iMac but i am unsure if it is the screen or the GPU.

Has anyone else seen this issue? if i move a window to the top left of the screen it sort of looks ok...

I do not have a cable to connect an external monitor to test at the moment.

Many thanks.

Yeah i tried the LCD cable and still the same. If i change the wallpaper it changes the effect of the distortion also..

I'm just not sure if its graphics or the actual LCD at fault.

Hmm, not what I was thinking where the 8 series GPUs would start to lift from the logic board... The 20" 2009 2.66ghz models came with a 9400M according to Apple.

Have you tried running diagnostics? Boot up holding D on the keyboard.

There are numerous fixes and such for GPU/graphics problems, but I assume you've installed everything from system update once you're installed?

Is Mountain Lion the only OS you've tried? Lots of people had problems with Mavericks when they installed that - similar symptoms to what you're seeing.
