What sort of soundcard is in an imac? I have some 7.1 speakers I'd like to hook up to one if I bought one, can't seem to find much info on the apple site.
Intel Hi-Def chipset (ie SoundMax). Most Macs have line-out and mic-in, that's it. The line-out doubles up as an optical out. Only way you'll get 5.1/7.1 is via the optical digital.
