I'm looking to buy an iMac at the end of this month, they look all shiney and impressive but just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on them!

They will help me out work wise with my new job but I also fancy a change, I'm going for 2nd model of the 20" series to get me going :)

With the mac expo around the corner I was wondering whether it would be better to wait the extra couple of weeks if they announce a better spec iMac!

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I am definately getting myself an iMac shortly after this, this was also the first year I've even paid any attention to the conference :p

Only thing worrying me though is my current PC has lots of files stored on NTFS drives, will I be able to access these through the mac equivalent of Windows file sharing? Or can it only see FAT formated drives on the current PC I have?

Thanks for all of the advice guys :)

I've just taken the plunge and managed to get the 24" iMac with wireless keyboard and mouse!

Should arrive shortly and pics will follow :D

Thanks again for all the advice! Will keep you informed :)

Well my iMac arrived yesterday and I must say I'm well impressed! I absolutely love it at the moment and can't see me getting bored! OSX is brilliant!

Only thing on my list now is to get 4GB of RAM in this baby (although it runs sweet enough as it is at the moment) :)

Cheers again for all the advice!

Here's some pics for you all to see :D

24" iMac :D If you need any pictures of anything else let me know..

I was even amazed on how I didn't need to do anything to get my camera to work.. plugged it in and no install anything, just worked lol

I thought the same thing. And I believe that the only other update would be the new processor.

To be honest though I'm glad I've got this now and don't think I'll be worried if they release a new one by the end of the year. This piece of kit is very impressive and I am happy with my purchase! :)

Yeah, I did a fair amount of reading around the .Mac and was thinking about getting it.. so at the moment I'm using the 60 day trial before purchasing it. But even after a day of use I can see it has some significant advantages.

I guess it's just as well that by the time the trail runs out I'll have some more money lol

Thanks for the heads up Justin! Will definitely consider it!

As for the advantages I believe every section of it I would use...

- The back to mac feature means I can then access it from work.
- iDisk : Always useful, your own personal FTP site
- Gallery and web hosting - love this feature as every web gallery I create is never as good as what I've created already

Just view the video's on there..

I appreciate it might not be useful for some people, but this is really useful for me :D

The package mine came in was very well packed. Couldn't see it getting damaged unless they were purposely trying to break it! It was all packed tight and didn't feel it was going to move around...
