It depends completely on what you need from your iMac.
If you need GPU power, then you should consider waiting, as next iMacs are probably going to get pretty significant GPU upgrades.
If you don't need GPU in your tasks, then most likely next upgrade will be mostly insignificant to you in terms of performance.
There is some hope that Apple will change pricing on their SSD's which are insanely overpriced at the moment. However, if the 256GB SSD is big enough for you then things most likely won't change much.
If you end up ordering now, absolute minimum you need to take is the fusion drive or 256GB SSD. Everything else is just madness...

With the fusion drive stay away from the 1tb as it only has 24gb of flash. The 2tb and 3tb have 128gb flash.
