I currently just using Windows 7 'backup and restore' to backup my OS SSD 128gb drive > 150gb drive having created an image and recovery CD

Am I better off using a free alternative such as Clonezilla or some other software?

Macrium Reflect would probably be better, afaik it's not complicated when using different size drives and compresses data where as neither of the above does.

+1, Macrium is brilliant - been using it for years. That reminds me - must update my backup Lol

hmmm, I installed it wanted me to download another 170mb for a backup image.

I'll stick with Windows backup and recovery. I just created an OS drive image in literally 5 clicks and a 15 minute wait

Thanks anyway guys

It gets this - reflectdl.exe

I then select 'Free' and there are no other options, its starts downloading 205mb

reflectdl.exe > Options > Select download option > Reflect installer only
