I'm thinking some form of camera fault and flash on particles from a pet, picture 1?

Is it doing it on all your photos?

Have you checked whether there is visually anything on the sensor?

Not my photo's but from what I can tell from the images sent, that dark mass seems to be on all of them but in different styles. In one of the shots there are a number of jet black blobs

Difficult to say then if its not your photos. The first photo could even be liquid droplets on the lens.

First photo could be gunk in the lens (towards the rear)
The second is possibly something on the sensor

First one is something in the lens, the fact that they are vaguely bokeh-shaped would suggest there are optics between whatever it is and the sensor.

The second looks to me like a spider or insect on the sensor. Should be easy to check.

What camera was used?

My wife took a few pics a while ago with her compact camera. Taken inside, low light so flash used, they looked very similar to #1.
It was just a very dusty lens, which was made worse by the flash.
