Image persistence getting worse on iMac

Hey there, I have a 24" iMac. It's over a year old now, but I got it on HE discount, so I'm unsure about the warantee I get.

Basically, it seems to be suffering more and more with image persistence. Right now, if I leave windows in the same position for about an hour the edges will 'burn' into the screen. So I have lines all over the place. :p

Looks like this, hard to take with an iPhone camera, but you get the idea.

I'm just worried they are going to start becoming permanent at some point. I can't exactly swap the screen.

Has anyone else has this kind of problem and what apple's stance on it?

Cheers man. Now just need to find out what to do. It's getting annoying, but is it enough to warrant a replacement of the panel?

I've never had an apple product repaired, do they do it in store or something? Would cost a hell of a lot to send this to them. :o

Ok, really bad now. Whole windows with text are getting stuck. £1500 for this crap. Well disappointed :(

Phoned them today. The women didn't know what image persistence was. Burning in, ghosting, nothing seemed to click with her. She made me repair disk permissions, restart my mac and alter energy settings before suggesting there might be something wrong with the hardware.
I need the mac up until the 19th everyday, then I have to lug it to Manchester to get a repair which she says can take a couple of weeks. What a joke. : /

Well I can't get an appointment with anyone in Manchester, my nearest apple stores. So I've phoned them up again and they are refusing to repair it, they are certain it's software at fault, like image persistance is a bloody myth. They're making me reinstall mac osx now.

Any of you that have dealt with apple support before, any tips to get second line support techs instead of these bunch of jokers? :@

I don't understand how you can't get an appointment at a Genius Bar.

There are none available, go onto apple support, look at trafford centre or arndale and try book an appointment, they have only two days listed. I need it to be after the 19th, preferably Saturday.

Only two days in total are listed, I mean they have nothing all year according to apples site and you cant book over the phone, it's stupid.

lmao, refusing to repair it by collection completely, say i need to take it into store, even though i cant get an appointment at a weekend. Surely this is breaking some consumer law?

Finally, got put through the 2nd line support. The guy was convinced within 20min that it was a hardware fault, instead of 2 hours on the phone to the other guy who said he didn't know what was wrong and put me onto his sinor.

The 2nd line support guy is going to check for cancelations and is going to email me a time as soon as a weekend appointment at trafford centre or arndale centre becomes available.

Apples forums are full of image persistence problems in ACD, what is wrong with these people? It's like they work at No Competitors! or something. :(
