image resolution for websites

I have seen people say this before on this forum but never paid much attention to it, and now i want to know

What resolution should images be to make them loko the best? Im guessing the bigger the better but obviously there must be a size that when it gets that big, its not going to get any clearer

well say for like like the logos and any other graphic stuff on a site? What sort of resolution should i be designed in?

When you're actually making the logo do it large then resize it, should be easier that way.

Can't see what else you could be asking

:Edit: Obviously nothing larger than 600ish due to the fact that some users may still be running on 800*600 or 1024 *768

DPI does NOT apply to video screens.

A 7 DPI image will look the same as a 72 DPI image, which looks the same as a 7200 DPI image (if they are all the same pixel size).
