Quick question guys & gals, whats the max image size or file size you can link to in a thread? I am just putting together a fairly large post, with a lot of images from last weeks holiday.

Max file size is just over 200kb for a couple of them and 1200 pixels wide (thats only for pano's though, most images are standard 700pixels wide).

I think the standard max width is regarded at about 800px due to some people still using 1024x728(?) monitors. A couple of panos bigger than that won't be a problem. :)

Yeah the norm we ask you to keep to forum wide is no more than 800 wide.

If you post images significantly more than that we will tend to turn them into links.

Ok thanks guys, a pano will look useless at 800 so some scrolling will have to be done, there are only about 5 or so that are really wide but hopefully that wont offend too many people. If it does I can always upload small versions :)

I don't know how many people still actually browse with such a low res. I would assume the vast majority browse with 1280x1024 or above so it wouldn't be too bad. :)

I still use a 17 inch CRT monitor at 1024x768 and see no reason to change it. I play games such as BF2 and CSS but I just don't see the need to buy a new monitor when this one works fine.

Since I got a 20" WS photo editing has been so much easier, I haven't actually played any games on it yet.

I just had a look at the stats for my site (probably a slightly different crowd to the people here) and just over 50% still use 1024x768, so a few more than I thought.
