Can anyone recommend any good imaging / disk cloning software for Mac OS? I am used to Windows systems such as RIS, Symantec Ghost, Acronis True Image etc but need something to easily clone some new Mac notebooks from a master build. Hopefully this can done over a network also.

Thanks in advance.

You can make a disk image from within OS X's Disk Utility.

Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility then select the drive then click New Image.

Oh right! I didn't know it had that functionality built in.

So I guess I just image it to external HDD and then how do you put that build onto another machine? Do you just have to load up Mac OS on the new notebook > plug the drive in and tell it to restore through the same utility?

Sorry for the basic questions but I know next to sweet FA about Macs and am used to rolling out Windows OS at work over the network.

Yep.

Load up Mac OS X on the new MacBook, then go to Disk Utility, select the HDD and press Restore then select the image.

Doing it with an external HDD would be the easiest way, just plug it into each MacBook then Restore.

Unfortunately Mac deployment is very much based around image deployment with various 3rd party tools, it doesn't seem to be an area that Apple are interested in.
