IMDb licencing question

Looking at this licensing page here: http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?usedatasoftware

I was looking at using IMDb data in my question but it says that you can't use data mining or anything like that, but I can think of several applications that do this XBMC, Media Portal...etc...

...how do such big software communities get away with it?

They've most likely got in touch and sorted out a deal to share their data.

They may host the whole lot on their own servers meaning no extra load is placed on imdb's servers...

As said above they would probably of been in contact before adding it as a feature

There is an Internet Soundtrack Database now too

The other applications (Media Portal, XBMC etc) probably use TMDB and TVDB

They definitely have options for IMDb and make them blatantly obvious too.

I think they turn a blind eye for non commercial projects which integrate with them
