In my opinion, a bad move. Virtually every film i've watched within the past 15 years has been followed up by scouring IMDB for information. I usually gain more insight from the user comments, questions and opinions found on each film or actor's mini board page than the IMDB listing itself.
Apparently, the majority of their users will be happy to use the IMDB page of Facebook (only useful for everything current and newsworthy within the past week). How on earth does that compare to being able to comment on a film i watched at 2am last week, made in 1971 and is really obscure?
I guess it doesn't make money for Amazon since they took over the site.
EDIT -sorry for the so called clickbait title. I can't edit it. Edited for you - Muban

Same.
OP should be suspended for putting a link up without reading the content, with a misleading thread title.

I did read the content of the link i posted. That is why i thought i would share it here, in this section of the OcUK boards. I probably wasn't thinking correctly when i chose the title for the thread but that can't be changed now. :o

The closure of the IMDB boards will be a big loss for me, as a film fan. I really enjoy finding out as much as i can about actors and films/ shows. IMDB has really helped me discover so much, mostly down to other users input on the individual boards, sometimes years old but still relevant. There must be hundreds of thousands, if not millions of individual boards on that site. Without the board section on each IMDB listing, i might as well just use Wikipedia although i accept that a Wiki page likely takes information from IMDB already.

Well, it's finally happened. The IMDB message boards are no more. However, i may have found something of interest to those who have stated that they will miss them.

I stumbled across this new site by reading a user comment on a 600+ reply posting on the IMDB Facebook page, of all places.

Moviechat.org claims to have archived the IMDB message boards although it is still an ongoing process. I've searched for some obscure titles and so far, i can view all of the user comments for that title. It also looks like new messages can be posted although i haven't registered to enable that.
