iMessage not activating

Trying to fix my girlfriends iPhone 4s, I have the 4s too and mine works fine I've tried everything to fix her, resets etc it says unable to verify but when I go to use apple Id I sign in but nothing happens just takes me back to the log in part ... It says iMessage activation an error occurred during activation

Ive found iMessage activation to be hit and miss in the past. Give it an hour and try again.

There may or may not be a problem with iMessage right now, as I text a friend about 15-20 mins ago and it still hasn't come through...

Eurgh this iOS 5 is really grinding on me, very close to switching to the Galaxy Nexus soon unless they update it.

Turn iMessage off if it bothers you, its mostly a US thing anyway where they have to pay a fortune for text messages

Agreed. I have mine off and only turn it on when the girlfriend runs out of credit/free txts on her PAYG sim. Can be hit and miss sometimes and really not needed for me on my contract. Rather just send as a text message

you can send pictures via imessage. Most contracts don't include these in the inclusive minutes

This is what i use it for, ive got mine turned on all the time, although ive got unlimited txts its still useful to use it.
Ive only had a few problems with it and most of the time have been very happy using it.

Biggest bonus for me of iMessage is that I often have no signal at all in work but we have wifi. I now actually get my girlfriend's messages, and she gets mine.

Free picture messages is a bonus too.

It's the battery life mainly just so shocking and I've swapped one in store also.
