Morning chaps and Merry Christmas,

So my son (7) got his gaming rig this morning from santa. All up and running as he was good enough to install all the components and OS and even put some game on there for him. I want him to have the same immersive experience I had when I was a child with good fun games that made you think but were very fun to play.

He has Sims4, SimCity and Minecraft but I want to find him something that he can play in SP. You know the sort that immersive style game that we all used to love.

Any suggestions? Steam, F2P infact anything really, just want him to have a huge game library he can explore.

Anyone recomend anything? I only play a certain few games but think he would enjoy fantasy type games but I have no idea in that genre as I don't venture into it. I have got him a few Lego titles I know he already likes.

His rig is an 8320, 270X and 8GB RAM running Windows 7 so most games should be fine for med/high settings.

Ah Rayman didn't think of those!

He has already got about 5 Lego games so he is good with those for a while.

Ta Malachi

Alien isolation, can't get any more immersive than that!

:p

If he is a bit of a puzzle solver, portal 1 and especially 2 (good humour for kids)
the amazing spiderman 1 and 2
the first two transformer games! (although they might only appeal to him if he is a fan of the transformers)
orcs must die 2 is good, although not really a proper SP game

I bought him Payday 2 for CO-OP Nexus, think that is suitable? lol

Will check out the Transformer as he loves them. He also got a £50 Steam Gift card from my uncle! Told him to buy a game and gift it to me lol

Merry Xmas dude!

Lol! Perfectly suitable IMO :D

The transformer games are:

Transformers: War for Cybertron
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

The rise of the dark spark is very poor compared to those two but he might enjoy it anyway....

Lucky boy , that will cover GTA 5 ;)

Also;

The batman arkham games
half life 2
Call of duty 4 modern warfare and modern warfare 2

Merry xmas to you too bud! Don't get too drunk now, you need to be up for some pro ucaving later on ;)

Double XP now also, might be on tonight, depends how drunk I do get.

Sadly only looking for PC games at the moment, I have elevated him to the superior platform and want to keep him there :)

Grim Fandango HD re-make start of next year. Tales of Monkey Island games are on Steam for a few pounds each. I enjoyed playing them with my dad when I was younger.

Not sure I would recommend payday 2 for a 7 year old, given the copious use of the "t" word for lady parts and the "f" word for intercourse :p

Yeah it was certainly a joke. Have no fear I may not be father of the year but I'm not that bad. :D

Will look into Monkey Island ta rwm.

It depends on your view of age restrictions given for games, my young Nephew is pirate barmy & loves playing Assasins creed black flag with me although it's rated as an 18 game, what a joke, you can see old films on Sunday afternoon with sword fighting, war films with soldiers being shot & blown up all over the screen, would I let him play anything with graphic violence or swearing? absolutely not.

A lot of the Final Fantasy games are on Steam now so maybe grab those, with IV and VII being the ones I'd recommend going for first. Not sure if they might be a bit much for a 7 year old but great immersive games that I used to spend all my holidays playing.

For a 7 year old:

Limbo
Never Alone
Street Fighter 4 Ultra Edition
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY
Batman Arkham City GOTY
Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate HD
Resident Evil 4 HD
Resident Evil 5
Lara Croft & The Temple Of Osiris
Gauntlet 2014
Castle Of Illusion 2013
Pacman Championship Edition EX
Brothers A Tale Of 2 Sons
Strider 2014
Duck Tales 2013
Monkey Island 1 + 2

These are all cheap right now I reckon he would get 6 months worth gameplay out of them ;)
