iMovie 09 effects not applying to some clips

I have edited a clip by slowing it down. Now I want to actually speed it up, or put it back to 100%. However when dragging the slider to 100%, it immediately jumps back to the slowed down position (20%).

I have a transition effect that is 2.9s, however when I edit it and set it to 10s, it reverts back to 2.9s.

Advice would be appreciated on how to solve this.

Probably when you slowed it down you lost 80 % of the 'frames'?

If that's the case, how do you get it back?

You'd need the original file. It would seem logical that the software discards any video data it does not need.
