iMovie .avi

Trying to export a video iMovie, and trying to make it as good quality, but don't want it a huge size.

When i export it for .m4v, it comes out fine quality, but on .avi it doesn't. Any ideas how to sort this?

Why are you using/wanting .avi?

It's only a container file, m4v is the way!

.mov? Quicktime format?

It's needed to be .mpg or .avi, which is why im asking. If it were just for me, i would use one of the others as they are good quality. Just messing around with settings now. Sort of working.

Might just require trial and error then.

Export it as a .mov then convert it with a third party app?

Tried that too, didn't work properly.

Found OK settings, they'll do for now.
