Hi guys. I've been trying to troubleshoot a BSoD that happens once every few days - only happens while I'm gaming. The first weapon of choice is bad drivers. Got 'em updated, but still happens. Next is to test the memory modules on Memtest 86. My memory is GeIL 2 x 1GB PC5300 DDR2, brought from OcUK on this page.

The first pass on Memtest gave 1 error at around the 25% mark. Normally though, doesn't a faulty stick give out many errors? I've seen some faulty sticks with errors in their 1000's. Next was to reverse the modules. Lo and behold, I didn't get a single error. I'll try some more gaming tonight and see what happens :-)

Can badly-seated memory give 1 error?

One stick could be weaker than the other and swapping them round meant that it was closer to the CPU so that latency wasn't such an issue.

Increasing the voltage would probably have sorted it as well.
