Just recived a letter from ParcelForce saying that they wont release my parcel until I pay the charges. Anyway I'm not here to moan about it  I'm just trying to work out how they calculate their fees.

My reason is me and my friend have ordered different amounts of items in the same parcel and are trying to work out how much each of us should pay :)

The VAT I understand, The Clearance fee I understand. But the "Import Duty" I don't understand at all. I'm not sure how they come up with that number.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hopefully some help.

I'm surprised you're not mad about the 'fee' Parcel Force charge you. I am everytime :D

£8 "handling" fee then VAT and import duty (if approporate).

I don't get mad about the fees - you know what they are in advance so you know the risks. It would be like getting mad at losing £5 on black jack at your local casino - don't gamble with money you can't afford to lose.

Poor analogy.

But I don't get mad mad. Also, my last 'fee' was £21 from Parcel Force‽

Last time I was in the Parcel Force depot some guy was really loosing and getting abusive over having to pay sub £30 for a "gift". He steps aside and I walk up, "That will be £195" please sir". I paid said thank you and left.

Whilst I don't like paying the fees there is nothing you can do about it and there is no point giving the people behind the desk a hard time about it as its nothing to do with them.

Sometimes I have import duty added others its just the VAT and clearance fee, which can make accurately pricing an order difficult
