Guys, if youa re using one of these USB wireless dongle please note the below:
DO NOT UPDATE driver from netgear. you WILL have problems connecting to internet during windows 10 upgrade which will cause your installation to hang.
you need to download the driver from http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/usb/ prior to upgrade and store the exe file on USB stick or on your drives
so the method for upgrade:
1) unplug your wifi dongle
2) upgrade W10 as normal
3) do not plug your dongle back in and certainly do not install netgear driver
4) update your motherboard's INF driver as your priority after installation of W10
5) restart pc and install other drivers such as rapid storage or graphic drivers
6) once all your system critical driver has been installed, plug in the netgear dongle
7) once windows has installed the driver DO NOT try to connect to any network as it will cause hang in your pc and you will loose all wifi related functionality until reboot and it will be a force reboot via reset button as windows won't shut down.
8) once W10 installed its own driver, run the downloaded exe file and select install driver only
9) once driver is done, go to device manager and under network adaptor find the usb dongle and right click and select "update driver"
10) select the option "browse my computer..."
11) select "let me pick from a list..."
12) unselect "shown compatible devices" just above the box
13) scroll down to "Mediatek" and select the driver for 802.11ac wireless lan card with 5.1.21.0
ok on the rest and presto you are good to go.
this gave me world of headache until some nice guy at netgear commnunity forum posted solutions.
this worked flawlessly or me on my A6210
