Ok, so when looking at imported cars is there anyway to do a HPi type check on them? I'm guessing if a car is freshly imported it will have no history at all until it's registered in the UK and then it will just have fresh new history.

But if you wanted to find out a little more about the history it had in another country is there a way? At the moment I'm looking at a rather nice Jap import car which only has 25,000 miles on the clock, it looks as if it's only done that many miles (but then I'm no car expert) except for maybe the drivers seat which has one side worn down a little in the foam (but then it's a common thing, car is a ITR DC2)

Just got me wondering really, it has FSH from Japan and it all seems to add up.

There's no way of finding out, its a gamble you have to take. TBH though if it is stolen or its owned by a credit company they are never gunna find out. Ive seen reports of imports being stolen cars but nothing has ever come of it.

You take the car as it comes - sold as seen.

Though that maybe the case but didn't know if maybe Japan had something similar to our HPi check that people could use.
